Response Time: We aim to respond to all inquiries within 2 to 3 business days. For urgent insurance-related matters, please contact your insurer directly or use the 24/7 assistance number provided in your policy document.
If you have an insurance-related complaint that you have been unable to resolve with your insurer, please follow this structured four-level process established by IRDAI to ensure your grievance is addressed appropriately.
Approach the designated Grievance Redressal Officer of your insurance company. Every IRDAI-registered insurer must have a designated officer to handle policyholder grievances. Submit your complaint in writing with all relevant details and supporting documents.
If you are unsatisfied with the insurer’s response or do not receive a response within the specified timeframe, file a complaint on the IRDAI Integrated Grievance Management System (IGMS) at igms.irdai.gov.in . This centralised portal allows you to track the status of your complaint online.
If the complaint remains unresolved after approaching the insurer and IGMS, you can approach the Insurance Ombudsman for independent dispute resolution. The Ombudsman provides free and impartial adjudication of insurance complaints. Find your nearest office at ecoi.co.in .
For further escalation, you can reach out to Bima Bharosa at bimabharosa.irdai.gov.in . This is a consumer helpline established by IRDAI to assist policyholders with unresolved grievances and provide guidance on the complaint process.
